Today is Comcast Cares Day, the company’s signature day of service and the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort. Along with their counterparts around the nation, thousands of local Comcast and NBCUniversal employees and their families and friends “made change happen” by completing nearly 70 simultaneous community volunteer projects throughout central and northern Illinois, including the Chicago area, northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan.
“Comcast Cares Day is an incredible effort and reflects Comcast’s unwavering commitment to the communities we serve,” said John Crowley, Comcast’s regional senior vice president. “Today, literally thousands of Comcast employees and their friends and families participated in volunteer projects in communities across the region and across the country. Volunteers did everything from cleaning up parks, painting schools, and putting together care packages for military personnel overseas, to giving blood.”
All told, Comcast anticipates that more than 70,000 volunteers will have participated in more than 750 projects nationally – and with the introduction of multiple project sites in London by NBCUniversal, Comcast Cares Day included international projects for the first time. Comcast also achieved another important milestone this year – a total of 3 million volunteer hours and participation by a half million volunteers since Comcast Cares Day began in 2001.
