Comcast will open its first Xfinity retail store in Illinois on Saturday, March 1, in Schaumburg. Located at 1229 E. Golf Rd., the new 4,500 square-foot space is designed to give visitors real life, hands-on demonstrations of Xfinity’s range of products and services, from cable TV, high-speed Internet and home phone services, to the company’s home security and home automation platform, Xfinity Home. The store also features iPads and other mobile devices visitors can use to test Xfinity’s Android and iOS apps. Apps range from Xfinity TV Go, which allows customers to watch live TV, stream On Demand content and download movies and TV shows, to Xfinity Home, which allows customers to manage and monitor their homes while on the go.
“The Xfinity store gives us the opportunity to provide visitors first-hand demonstrations of our innovations in TV viewing, communications and accessing content at home and on the go, as well as the latest in home security and automation,” said John Crowley, Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region senior vice president. “In addition, we’ve set up comfortable seating areas so visitors can settle in and experience Xfinity products and services as though they’re in their own homes.”
In addition to product and service demos, customers can pay bills, pick up and return equipment and get assistance from trained, knowledgeable sales consultants.
The Xfinity Store, which will have about 15 employees, is located in the Woodfield Commons East shopping center in Schaumburg and is adjacent to an Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles facility and REI, Ross Dress for Less and other stores and service providers. Store hours are Mondays through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.
