Comcast Sends Third Wave of Techs to Florida to help Optimize Network Following Extensive Damage caused by Hurricane Irma
Nov. 1, 2017 – Comcast techs from Illinois, Indiana and Michigan have been working in and around Miami for weeks at a time to help optimize the company’s network after it was damaged by Hurricane Irma back in September. This morning, a wave of 60 techs from the region – the third wave of local techs to head to Florida to help – left for Miami in an armada from Comcast’s Homewood facility and from facilities across Central Illinois.
“Nearly 100 techs from the region have gone to help in Florida since the storm hit, and 600 raised their hands when we initially asked for volunteers,” said John Crowley, Comcast Greater Chicago Region Senior Vice President. “I am in awe of our techs’ generosity and their willingness to put their lives aside for weeks at a time to help others. I can’t thank this group enough. They’re awesome.”
