April 17, 2019 – Saturday, May 4, is the 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, the company’s celebration of its year-round commitment to volunteerism and service.  This year, more than 6,000 local Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families, friends and community partners will “make change happen” as they undertake more than 70 volunteer projects across Illinois, Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan.

Comcast and the community-based organizations participating in Comcast Cares Day welcome volunteers from the community. For more information or to sign up to participate at a local project, visit www.ComcastintheCommunity.com.

“Comcast Cares Day is my favorite day of the year,” said John Crowley, Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region senior vice president.  “Comcast Cares Day proves that change happens when employees, their friends and families, come together with community partners for these volunteer projects.  I can’t thank all the volunteers enough for their hard work and their commitment to their communities.”

Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day – it is a culmination of Comcast NBCUniversal’s commitment to volunteerism that began when the company was founded more than 55 years ago.  From using technology to create positive change, such as teaching digital literacy skills, to mentoring youth, to stocking food banks, to beautifying parks, Comcast NBCUniversal employees volunteer during this celebration and throughout the year to make a lasting impact.  To date, more than 1 million Comcast Cares Day volunteers have contributed over 6 million service hours to improve local communities at more than 10,000 projects.   This year, the Company expects more than 100,000 volunteers to participate in projects across the country and around the world.

The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation will also provide grants to community partner organizations that host projects.  The grants are designed to help them continue their missions throughout the year.  To date, the Comcast Foundation has awarded nearly $25 million in grants to participating organizations.
