Comcast Launches ‘School Year 2020’ Destination On Demand to Commemorate the 2019-2020 School Year
Local Schools Across Region Are Invited to Submit Footage of the School Year’s Special Events to View on Xfinity On Demand
June 15, 2020 – Comcast announced today it has launched a specially created destination on Xfinity On Demand called “School Year 2020” to help schools commemorate the 2019-2020 academic year’s special moments. Students and families can enjoy school year events on demand they may have otherwise missed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Local K-12 schools as well as colleges and universities throughout Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region (GCR), which includes Illinois, Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan, are invited to submit footage of graduations, athletic recognitions, and other events to include in the destination. Video submissions will be accepted through the end of August. For guidelines for submitting content and additional information, please email SchoolYear_2020@comcast.com.
The School Year 2020 destination will be updated throughout the summer as local schools submit content. Xfinity TV customers in the GCR can access the School Year 2020 destination on Xfinity On Demand by clicking “Get Local.” Xfinity X1 customers can simply say “Get Local” into the Xfinity Voice Remote to find the content.
“Comcast is proud to make this local content available to students and families via Xfinity On Demand,” said John Crowley, Comcast GCR Senior Vice President. “It’s an unprecedented time, and we wanted to help students who can’t be together in person for graduations and other life events celebrate their achievements.”
