October 22, 2021 –  La Casa Norte will host an in-person and virtual Gala ¡Esperanza! On October 29th at 6 pm at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago.

La Casa Norte presents the ¡Esperanza! Award to exemplary Chicagoland individuals for their contributions to Black and Latinx communities. Dr. Helene Gayle of the Chicago Community Trust is uniting partners from across philanthropy, business, and communities to drive an equitable and just COVID-19 recovery for under resourced communities.

“This award honors the incredible staff, executive committee and many partners we work with to build a stronger and more equitable future for our city,” said Helene Gayle, president, and CEO of The Chicago Community Trust. “As one of the most philanthropic and civically minded cities in America, we stand committed to ensuring our economic recovery does not leave Black and Latinx communities behind.”

The Community Leader Award is presented annually to La Casa Norte partners who lead the way through thoughtful community investment. Comcast embodies the spirit of community investment through their ambitious commitment to digital equity and inclusion.

“We’re honored and humbled to receive the Community Leader Award from La Casa Norte. This award means a lot to Comcast and to the numerous employees who have worked alongside La Casa Norte for years to help the organization deliver on its mission to serve youth and families confronting homelessness,” said John Crowley, Comcast’s Regional Senior Vice President. “We’re especially proud of our work to connect the youth La Casa Norte serves at its Humboldt Park Media Center to the Internet to help them do schoolwork and build the digital skills they’ll need to participate and succeed in an increasingly digital world.”
