Expansion will make Comcast’s high-speed Internet and full suite of services available to homes and businesses in the Village for the first time
September 23, 2022 – Palos Park leaders and Comcast are pleased to announce that the company is expanding its network into the Village, bringing all its Xfinity and Comcast Business services to local customers for the first time. The Village Council approved a franchise agreement with Comcast at its December 13, 2021 meeting, and construction is now underway. Work on this agreement was months in the making.
“When the network expansion is complete, Palos Park residents will have access to some of the fastest Internet speeds and most advanced telecommunications services available today,” said Palos Park Mayor John Mahoney. “Comcast’s investment in Palos Park will also bring new levels of connectivity and technology to our residents and local businesses, helping them in a competitive marketplace.”
Police and Public Safety Commissioner Dan Polk added “The Comcast expansion project will be a new system to serve Palos Park. Comcast will work with the Village of Palos Park to provide updates on construction timelines as the work progresses. The franchise agreement stipulates Comcast will complete its new system buildout by December 31, 2023. Comcast will offer service to every existing residential dwelling within the Village, east of Bell Road, at standard installation rates. There is no obligation for residents to sign up for Comcast service(s).”
All of Comcast’s Xfinity Internet plans will be available in Palos Park. Xfinity Internet delivers residential download speeds up to 1.2 Gbps and has features that give customers complete control of their in-home WiFi networks, including: Xfinity Mobile and Xfinity TV to Xfinity Voice (home phone) and Xfinity Home (home security).
In addition to the ability to service all residential properties, the expanded network will also reach businesses in Palos Park. Comcast Business offers a suite of connectivity, communications, networking, cybersecurity, wireless and managed solutions.
