Comcast Surprises Local Students from CC’s Little Village Boys & Girls Club with New Laptops

Comcast announces plans to donate 1,000 laptops to 10 city non-profits

September 20, 2023 – The holidays came early yesterday for 100 members of CC’s Little Village Boys & Girls Club in Chicago. Early in the day, Comcast joined Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to announce plans to donate 1,000 laptops to 10 city non-profits, including CC’s Little Village Club, and later in the day, company leaders visited the club to surprise the kids with the news.

The laptop donations are part of Project UP, Comcast’s 10-year, $1 billion commitment to help make digital equity a reality in the communities the company serves in Chicago and elsewhere across its footprint. To that end, Comcast has made more than $91 million in cash and in-kind donations to community-based organizations in Illinois since 2011, primarily to initiatives designed to foster digital equity. Digital equity = Broadband Internet access + a computer + digital skills, regardless of where you live or how much money you have.
