Project SYNCERE Receives $15,000 Grant from Comcast NBCUniversal to Expand STEM Education in the South Suburbs
Project SYNCERE is excited to announce a $15,000 grant from Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation, which will help expand our STEM in Motion program to reach more young students in Chicago’s south suburbs. This mobile STEM workshop initiative introduces students to hands-on engineering challenges, sparking curiosity and creativity while exposing them to STEM career possibilities.
With this funding, our first stop was Neil Armstrong Elementary School in Richton Park, Illinois, where students participated in engaging, real-world engineering activities. To amplify the program’s impact, we left STEM kits for teachers, empowering them to continue fostering innovation and problem-solving in their classrooms. Thanks to Comcast NBCUniversal’s support, we’ll be expanding the program to additional schools in early 2025, bringing STEM inspiration to students who might not otherwise have such opportunities.
Jason Coleman, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Project SYNCERE, expressed his gratitude:
“We are thrilled to partner with Comcast NBCUniversal to expand our STEM in Motion program. This generous grant allows us to bring high-quality STEM education to students in our south suburban communities, providing them with the tools and inspiration to dream big and pursue careers in engineering and technology.”
Grace Hong Duffin, Vice President of External and Government Affairs for Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region, said:
“Project SYNCERE is inspiring and empowering the next generation of innovators and creators in Chicago’s south suburban communities. Comcast is delighted to help expand STEM in Motion as we collectively work to open doors, advance economic mobility, and achieve digital equity.”
This grant is part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity and help build a future of unlimited possibilities.
We look forward to working with more schools in 2025 and are grateful to Comcast NBCUniversal for their commitment to fostering equity in education.
