Comcast Volunteers Join Cradles to Crayons’ Backpack-A-Thon to Help Pack 36,000 Backpacks for Chicagoland Students

Nearly 50 Comcast volunteers recently participated in Cradles to Crayons’ 10th Annual Backpack-A-Thon at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena on July 30th.

Alongside hundreds of corporate volunteers, Comcast helped pack 36,000 backpacks with brand-new school supplies – including folders, notebooks, pencils, rulers, erasers for Chicagoland students to feel prepared and excited for the upcoming school year.

Cradles to Crayons’ signature Backpack-A-Thon event is part of the organization’s Ready for Learning initiative, which has ensured more than 100,000 Chicago students have the supplies and support to be successful in school.

Comcast volunteered as part of Team UP, the company’s 365-days-a-year effort to provide employees with opportunities to get more involved in their local communities. As a longtime community partner and supporter of Cradles to Crayons, Comcast is committed to being an active part of the communities it serves – which in Chicago, includes all 77 of the city’s neighborhoods.
