Comcast Donates $15,000 to Expand Digital Skills Training at Aurora Public Library District
Latest donation follows more than $325,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to Aurora nonprofits over the past five years
Comcast joined Aurora Public Library District officials and community leaders to announce a $15,000 donation to the Aurora Public Library Foundation, which will expand digital skills training at Santori Library in Aurora, IL.
Comcast’s latest support of digital skills training in Aurora follows the company’s announcement in 2023 to establish a digital navigator program at Santori Library, where community members are able to connect with trained professionals to help build the digital skills needed to stay connected and thrive.
The company also contributed 50 laptops to participants of the library’s digital education programming, in partnership with Family Focus Aurora.
“Thank you to Comcast for their investment in the Aurora Public Library District and Aurora Family Focus,” said Aurora Chief Information Officer Ram Tyagi. “Both organizations work tirelessly to connect Aurora residents to critical resources.”
“Our libraries serve as vital hubs for lifelong learning and community connection,” said Michaela Haberkern, Executive Director of the Aurora Public Library District. “Thanks to Comcast’s continued support, we’re able to expand access to essential digital skills training and empower more community members with the tools they need to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.”
“We deeply appreciate Comcast’s continued partnership in helping us fulfill our mission to support families in Aurora,” said Christina Campos, Assistant Center Director at Family Focus Aurora. “Access to laptops and digital training opens doors for our community members to secure new opportunities.”
Over the past five years, Comcast has made a total of $325,000 in cash and in-kind donations to Aurora nonprofits. The grant and laptop donations are part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital opportunity and help create a future of unlimited possibilities.
“Comcast is delighted to support the Aurora Public Library and Family Focus Aurora as we collectively work to create digital opportunity and support community members in Aurora,” said Grace Hong Duffin, Comcast’s Regional Vice President of External and Government Affairs. “Digital skills are an essential part of closing the digital divide as they are essential to succeed in today’s economy.”
