Comcast today hosted a job fair and career open house for military veterans at the NBC Tower (454 N. Columbus Dr., Chicago) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. At the event, Comcast provided veterans information about career opportunities at Comcast Cable, Comcast Spotlight, NBC5 Chicago and Telemundo. In addition, company recruiters were on hand to provide resume writing and job search guidance.
“Comcast has hired thousands of talented veterans over the last couple of years, and we’re committed to hiring and helping even more,” said Will Baas, Vice President, Talent Acquisition, who oversees Comcast’s veteran recruitment activities and is a currently serving U.S. Navy Reservist. “Veterans have the kinds of experience Comcast values. They have extensive leadership skills. They’re disciplined. And many of them have hands-on experience with leading edge communications technologies.”
Baas added that Comcast participates in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s “Hiring Our Heroes” program and has hired more than 2,600 veterans since 2012.
“Our veterans provided a service to this country for which we all owe a debt of gratitude, and it is our obligation to make sure they have a smooth return home. Veterans are among the best, brightest and most talented individuals our country has to offer, and I applaud Comcast for recognizing this and making it a priority to recruit them for jobs here in Chicago,” said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
