League to use Comcast Foundation grant to interest and teach youth about STEM
December 15, 2017 – Comcast recently announced a $10,000 grant to the Quad County Urban League (QCUL) in Aurora, IL, to support its “Tomorrow’s Scientist Technicians and Managers” (TSTM) program. TSTM is a college preparatory and academic achievement program for minority youth. Serving students from 6th to 12th grades, TSTM is designed to reduce racial and gender disparities and transform the learning process by investing in their futures, careers and STEM exploration.
“Through TSTM, we’re exposing junior high and high school age students to careers in business and the sciences, technology, engineering and math fields where minorities remain dramatically underrepresented,” said QCUL president and CEO, Theodia Gillespie. “Comcast’s grant will help us update and acquire technologies that will make the program even more impactful.”
