Households no longer eligible for Chicago Connected’s no-cost Internet service can apply to ACP to get the cost of their service fully or partially covered
Eligible City Colleges of Chicago students can now apply for Chicago Connected
December 15, 2022 – Comcast advised households no longer eligible for Chicago Connected, the City of Chicago’s and Chicago Public Schools’ (CPS) groundbreaking no-cost, high-speed Internet service, that they should consider enrolling in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) if they haven’t already. ACP provides eligible households up to $30/month toward the cost of their Internet and/or mobile service.
“Households that no longer have students enrolled in CPS schools, including households with high school seniors who graduated last spring, will no longer be eligible for Chicago Connected at the end of 2022,” said Carl Jones Jr., Comcast’s Regional Vice President of External and Government Affairs. “Families can transition from Chicago Connected to ACP and continue to get the cost of all or part of their Internet service covered.”
Jones added that ACP would cover the full cost of Comcast’s Internet Essentials Plus plan, making it free.
City Colleges of Chicago students can now apply for Chicago Connected
Chicago Connected is now available to eligible City Colleges of Chicago students. City Colleges students who meet Chicago Connected eligibility requirements can now apply for the program and get their Internet service free. Until recently, only CPS students participating in Chicago Connected moving on to City Colleges could access the program.
Combine Chicago Connected and ACP to cover more of your costs
Households that remain in Chicago Connected can apply for ACP as well. If their application is approved, Chicago Connected would provide Internet service at no cost and ACP could provide up to $30/month toward the cost of their mobile bills simultaneously.
