Increases access to Ethernet, Internet, Voice and Cloud Services in Elkhart, Hammond, Highland and Portage…
Comcast Business announced today that it has expanded its advanced network to reach more businesses in Elkhart, Hammond, Highland and Portage.
- In Elkhart, the Comcast network can now reach nearly 80 manufacturers and other businesses in the Lusher Avenue industrial area;
- In Hammond, the network can now reach nearly 50 manufacturing, distribution and hospitality businesses in the Krosan Interstate Business Park around 179th Street & North Cline Avenue;
- In Highland, more than 20 manufacturing and distribution companies now have access to the Comcast network along segments of Express and Industrial Drives; and
- In Portage, more than 40 manufacturing, distribution, retail and hospitality businesses can now access Comcast’s network.
“The addition of fiber in industrial areas across Northwest and North Central Indiana will help businesses already here grow and continue to compete, as well as attract new ones,” said Ed Soliday, State Representative, Indiana District 4. “We’ve seen how Comcast’s network has benefitted businesses in towns across the region, including Chesterton, Portage and Valparaiso, and are confident it will have the same positive impact on businesses in locations where Comcast is expanding its network.”
These latest projects follow network expansions that Comcast Business completed last year in Elkhart’s Eastland Drive Business Park, and at the Ralph Jones Industrial Park in South Bend.
“Connectivity is a key component for businesses looking to locate or expand operations. Having a robust network makes Lake County and our whole region more attractive in the site selection process for technology-related companies as well as other industry clusters, including manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, customer support/call centers and healthcare,” added Karen Lauerman, president and CEO, Lake County IN Economic Alliance. “This investment is another opportunity to capitalize on our assets to draw and retain quality jobs and investment in our communities.”
Comcast Business’s network expansion will give small, medium and large businesses wider access to Internet speeds of up to 10 Gbps – and up to 100 Gbps on a case-by-case basis – along with a wide range of services, including Ethernet, Internet, Voice and value-added cloud services.
“Our network provides increased bandwidth and that means more businesses can do more with their IT resources, like access more applications and services in the cloud, accommodate rapidly increasing numbers of employees in the field using mobile devices, and exchange large amounts of data,” said Jay Dirkmaat, regional vice president of Comcast Business. “Comcast already has an extensive coaxial and fiber network in Northwest and North Central Indiana, and we’ve been expanding it significantly through strategic proactive investments designed to help spur economic growth in emerging and growing business corridors.”
