Our hearts to go out to area residents impacted by the recent storm
5:30 pm, July 5, 2023: The power companies are making significant progress repairing and replacing damaged wires and poles. We’re coordinating with them and other utility providers, and when it’s safe and we get the all-clear, our crews are moving in to repair and replace our damaged lines. In addition, we’re working on repairing and replacing damage to the infrastructure that connects our customers’ homes and businesses to our network. Our goal is to get this work done quickly and restore service as soon as possible. Please download the Xfinity app on the Android or iOS app store and use it to check the status of service in your area.
2:30 pm, July 3, 2023: A group of Comcast technicians who volunteered to help with the restoration efforts just left our Homewood facility for Central Illinois. We can’t thank these technicians and all of the other Comcast employees who are working night and day to restore service in storm-damaged areas enough!
10:00 am, July 3, 2023: Our crews are continuing to work to restore service in locations where it’s safe. There are still a lot of locations with downed or damaged utility poles and electrical wires that we aren’t allowed to access yet. We are coordinating with power companies and other utility providers and will be ready to work on our lines when we get the all clear. Thank you for your patience.
4:00 pm, July 1, 2023: Our crews are continuing efforts to restore service in locations where damaged power lines and poles have been repaired or replaced and it’s safe to enter. We are coordinating with local power companies and other utility providers to ensure we can get in and repair the damage to our lines as quickly as possible once we get the go ahead.
Once again, we recommend that customers download the Xfinity app or Comcast Business app on the Android or iOS app store. You can use the apps to check the status of service in your area, get answers to questions about your service and chat online with Customer Care representatives. In addition, if you’re an Xfinity Internet, Comcast Business Internet or Internet Essentials customer, you can access one of our Xfinity WiFi hotspots to connect to the Internet. Just look for the “xfinitywifi” SSID and login with your credentials when prompted. Our Xfinity TV customers can stream their favorite movies, shows and other content on their mobile devices via the Xfinity Stream app.
3:30 pm, June 30, 2023: Right now, around 150 Comcast employees are working to restore service in areas of Central Illinois impacted by yesterday’s storms. We monitor the weather carefully and put our emergency plans into place even before the storm starts to make sure we’re prepared if and when the time comes. That includes making sure our repair crews and supplies are ready to go once we know the location and extent of the damage. Our command center in Springfield is leading our efforts and coordinating with local power companies and other utility providers to make sure we work together safely and effectively to restore your services as quickly as possible.
Once any damaged electrical lines and utility poles are repaired or replaced, Comcast and the utility companies can start their work. Right now, our crews are out assessing the damage, already making repairs where possible and moving supplies and people in place to finish the job once the damage is cleared and the area is safe to enter.
In the meantime, please download the Xfinity app or Comcast Business app on the Android or iOS app store.
